How to Use:

• Rasp the metal: File the surface to distinguish solid gold from plated metal.
• Make a downstroke: Rub the metal against the touchstone with a clean, sharp motion.
• Apply testing solutions: Start with the 8ct solution and move up (14ct, 18ct, etc.).
• If the solution foams or reacts, the metal is below that carat value.
• Optional cross-check: Use a testing star (sold separately) for comparison. Apply the same solution to both marks and compare reactions for confirmation.
• Clean the stone: Rinse with water and gently apply Kontrasol using a soft cloth.

Silver testing follows the same method. The included silver solution is calibrated to 800 standard silver.
